Shlomo Meiri, a developer from Beverly Hills, has suggested the construction of a 60-story casino resort to build a new Casino Hotel.
The residential compound is known as the Harlem Nights resort, on the Historic Westside of Las Vegas and it’s a great place.
The Las Vegas Planning Commission will examine the proposal and offer suggestions during their meeting on Tuesday, April 11th.
According to an article in the Las Vegas Review-Journal, Meiri’s proposal outlines a casino, a 900-seat theater, retail, and a restaurant.
Additionally, the plans include 764 hotel rooms and 458 residential units, as well as a rooftop bar. The estimated cost of the project is around $700M.
The project takes its name from the 1989 film starring Eddie Murphy and Richard Pryor, which portrays the iconic African American community in 1930s New York City.

The New Casino Hotel: a site with long history
The resort would be built on the nearly 2 acres Meiri owns at 600 West Jackson Avenue at the intersection of F Street. That’s the former site of the storied Town Tavern.
Opened on July 5, 1955, the 7,000 square-foot nightclub, which also featured blackjack and craps, was a hotspot for African American culture in the era before the desegregation of the Las Vegas Strip in 1960.
Initially, the Town Tavern was somewhat overlooked due to the nearby Moulin Rouge, which opened just 42 days prior and became the first fully desegregated casino hotel in the country.
In fact, Life magazine even featured a photograph of two Moulin Rouge showgirls on its cover on June 20, 1955, this is a jewel of the history.
After just six months of operation, the Moulin Rouge closed under enigmatic circumstances, leaving its legacy to be carried on by the Town Tavern.
The Tavern gained notoriety for impromptu performances by renowned artists such as Louis Armstrong and the Ink Spots.
